I really like the medium of post-it notes. I use them for just about everything. Lately, time being of the essence, I've been doodling or painting onto post-its - stealing away 5 minutes to be creative. I'd love to have a little show some time with a line of painted and doodled coloured post-its around a room. Some really great artists who use post-it notes as a medium are Marc Johns, John Kenn and there is a yearly post-it note art exhibition at Los Angeles' Giant Robot Gallery. Here are some lists I've written on post-it notes.

I'm trying to get rid of a lot of the clutter in our house at the moment before we have to move again (our lease expires on New Years Day, yay), so I'm attempting to be more selective on my my thrift trips. I did pick up a couple of goodies.





Have you had any thrifting wins lately?

I bought this dress when I was in New South Wales, looking for some cute summery frocks. It's from City Chic. I've never been to one of their stores before but was pleasantly surprised at their gorgeous styles and variety of sizes (I don't often find 'regular' sized clothes really flattering on me, but I don't quite fit plus sizes either). My sister picked out half a dozen gorgeous dresses for me to try on and this was my favourite. I would have taken home a couple more, had their prices not been prohibitively expensive. Today C, Theo and I wandered down to the climate change rally in City Park and met up with our friend Dean. We had drinks at a lovely new cafe called Messiah that opened yesterday - which has a pay-what-you-feel policy (so you nominate what you want to pay for each item) and their profits go to Kiva. Then we went to an asylum seeker support picnic in Royal Park and took a lazy walk home in the sunshine. We stopped for a moment in a cute alleyway and took these pictures. Theo wasn't especially photogenic today - that tooth is giving him some grief!

We just got back from two weeks away in NSW and now I'm looking at the '0' posts next to November and feeling a bit sad about it, already being halfway through the month! We had a really lovely time seeing friends and family, but it is always bittersweet. Tasmania has my heart 100% but the thought of seeing our family and friends there on a regular basis sure tugs at the heartstrings. Moving back is not something I could decide to do on a whim and I would worry so much that I'd regret it and want to come back straight away. We just wish we could package up and ship our friends and family down here (C is ALWAYS trying to convince them to move here). As Theodore gets older though, I feel like the pull towards being around family will become stronger and we may consider moving back, though certainly not forever.



Anyway, from time to time I'd like to do a post about some of my favourite places. The Centenary Centre in Newcastle near Civic Station is probably my favourite vintage shop ever. Funnily enough, I can't recall ever purchasing anything there though! I step inside its doors and spend hours fossicking, but can never choose just one or two things - it's like a museum to me. It is an enormous warehouse building filled with 25 little shops which you can wander through, filled with every vintage and antique item your heart could desire. It's a special place. I'm sure that if I lived back in Newcastle my home would be filled with decor from the Centenary Centre.

A little somebody is making two rather sharp, painful teeth as we speak and won't leave my lap, so I'll stop this one-handed typing and go cuddle up with him, some Mindy Project and a cup of tea.
