What I Wore Today

I posted a picture of a postcard I made for my friend Jackson a week or two ago and (coinciding with my frustration with Australia Post) it is still yet to arrive. It was meant to be anonymous, but I asked Jackson the other day, 'Got any interesting mail lately?' and he said no, and I told him I'd sent him something. At least I was able to send him the scans I took of it and he loved it. Here's another one I made for him. Lets see if this one arrives. Tea boxes aren't quite as aesthetically interesting as beer cartons, but there's no beer around these parts;




I finished watching the first season of Dexter last night, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I did forgot that watching shows like that in large amounts in one sitting kind of makes you go crazy. When I was a kid we'd watch Law and Order and then two episodes of CSI in a row when they were on TV and I'd go to bed afterward with blood and guts all stuck in my head. So I had lots of Dexter related dreams last night and haven't stopped thinking about it all day. As a result, C and I are going to watch the Jets game at the Bennett in an hour or so then go to his brother's house to borrow season 2 & 3.

Today I had a bit of a whinge and cry at C about him going away for so long next week. Entirely selfish of me, I know. 18 days just feels like soooo long. I know he feels the same way about it and there's no way I'm going to keep him here because 'we can't be apart', but I'll be mighty lonely without him! It will be just me and the cats for most of the time. I'm thinking of getting a membership at the video shop so I can occupy myself with all matter of television box sets and movies and such. I got a letter today from Centrelink telling me that I no longer have to hand in fortnightly employment income forms and I only have to hand in one form every twelve weeks, as a result of my job network rehabilitation people. Woo. So I don't even have mandatory job searching to occupy my time anymore. Jeez, what do I even do with my days now?!

I made some paper flowers while I watched Dexter. Interesting combination.

I also tried my hand at a paper crane, but it was less successful. It still looks like a crane, but kind of not right. I feel like an idiot not being able to make thing from simple diagrams. I need someone to show me.

Today was a good mail day, which always sets up the rest of the day to be good.

My friend Doug took me to Eckersley's the day before yesterday to get a whole lot of free postcards. They have a big rack of them right at the front door and I must have taken like, 50.

I have no idea why, but three things I've sent in the past few weeks have been lost in the post, and they're to local destinations too. It's bizarre, and disappointing. All of my international post items arrive safely, but if I send something that only has a few kms to travel it disappears. I guess the Post Office hates me.

Last night went to dinner at C's brother and sister in law's house. They have two lovely little children, Elly and Marley, and their mum Melissa asked me if I'd mind giving Elly art lessons on a Friday afternoon, which I am kind of excited about. Melissa tells me Elly doesn't have much of an attention span for things like that, but as long as we're both being creative it should be fun. We sat outside in the cool first of Spring night air and ate dinner then C made us fried ice cream, which was so so delicious. This is Marley singing into our microphone (he kind of just gurgles);



I came across this lovely little Flickr Pool today called What I Wore Today drawings (an alternative to photographing what you wear each day, which I'm not so into). It's invitation only, but the pictures that are up so far are just lovely;

I did my own for today (I think it's a good way to make sure you draw every day). It's a pretty sketchy two minute drawing, but I think the more I do the more I'll get into it;



C has to work tonight until midnight and he got up really early, so he's currently snoring away on couch near me. I keep dropping my pens and things and all of the sudden there's car alarms going off and revving cars outside and he keeps stirring, poor C. He goes away in exactly one week :( Boo. What am I going to do? What am I going to eat?!
