100 Ideas | Week Fifteen

I chose a pretty simple idea for this past week - make a map of everywhere you went in one day. Our friend Chris was staying with us for a few days from NSW and my best friend Sara was kind enough to drive the four of us around the countryside visiting some of the lovely sites that Northern Tasmania has to offer. We had delicious lunch and sweets at the raspberry farm, devoured cheese samples at the cheese farm, ate late afternoon burgers on the water in Devonport, observed some topiary and a hideous statue and watched C and Chris drink a paddle of beers each at the brewery and observed all the lovely scenery in between. This map shows all  the places we stopped over our 6 hour journey.

Next, I'd like to road trip to the Great Western Tiers to see falling snow and maybe go camping when it's warm again on the pretty East Coast. I feel like Tasmania is pretty much inexhaustible, despite it's tiny size (if you were wondering, it is about the size of Ireland or Switzerland or West Virginia). It has expansive beaches, snowy mountains, treacherous forests, huge lakes, rolling hills. I like it a lot.

Where would you like to road trip to?

Haus | Desk

I just thought I'd share some pictures of my current desk/making space. My camera was being a bit bothersome today, so apologies for the yellowness of everything. Ideally I'd love to have a fun, roomy studio area with lots of space to spread out, but C and I share the space (he sits behind me at his desk) so I can't be too messy. I have a view into my little backyard and can watch the tv in the lounge room lazily from my desk chair. My cats also like to use the sunny vantage point of my window sill to sit and laze.
My essential creative space ingredients are lots of desk space, compartments, colour and that everything is easily accessible.

I also thought I'd mention super quick that I did some (very) late night blog tweaking last night and changed the commenting system on my blog again, so all the previous comments on the last month's worth of posts don't show up anymore (but I can still see them in my account) - just in case you thought I deleted your lovely comment!

I had a bad day today. I'm grateful to be at the tail end of it. My mum said it was because it is Friday the 13th, but I'm not superstitious. It mostly centred around having a migraine, bad customers at work and realising I'd forgotten to bring my keys after locking my bike up outside a supermarket. I was running late for work (and thus put 0 effort into my appearance) and one of my coworkers asked me in all seriousness if I was growing dreadlocks (then proceeded to tell me about how he was chased by a hippy when he was a child and now he breaks into a sweat whenever he sees one - he's also deathly afraid of people wearing flannelette). I'm not growing dreadlocks, I just forgot to brush my hair for one day (it's very temperamental hair). I hope your day wasn't cursed by Friday the 13th!

One highlight of my day was when I got to work and one of my bosses told me she heard two guys on the main radio station in Launceston talking about a girl with a pink bicycle with "knitting" on the back and how this girl came out of a shop and they said "nice wheels" to her. Was totally me. Bike famous.
