Film Friday | Mixed Bag

+ Midnight In Paris: I have had this lying around for ages, but something about it put me off watching it. I'm so glad I did. Really clever, very funny. I never thought I'd love Owen Wilson in anything.
+ The Hunger Games: One of those movies I assumed was mainly hype but really lived up to it. I may have actually literally leapt out of my seat at one point. Had my heart pumping.
+ God Bless America: Highly violent but a great social commentary. Darkly comedic.
+ Meek's Cutoff: I saw this at film society. The number of people who walked out midway through pretty much sums up how I felt about this movie. No real plot, no real character development and no ending. Didn't get anything out of it.
+ The Whistleblower: Interesting (true) story and well filmed though the whole "American justice over all" feel to it made it feel a bit one dimensional.
+ Back To The Future: Late to the game? Try 27 years late. Really satisfying old school 80's movie. Watched number 2 this week and loved it too.

Midweek 6

+ Manzanita posted a great granny square tutorial video. I am making it my mission to learn to crochet this year.
+ The Sketchbook Project 2013 just launched and sign ups are open. I had so much fun doing it last year, I highly recommend it.
+ Kaylah from the Dainty Squid posted a lovely list of her favourite simple pleasures.
+ Tabitha Emma shared a tutorial for how to make roll-over navigation bars for your blog.
+ A couple of people asked me where I got the gnome wallpaper in my last post - I found it here (via Queenie & The Dew).
+ I don't know if it's just me, but I found Kern Type really addictive and fun. Highly recommended for typography nerds.
+ I've been eyeing off these adorable vintage fabric lady ties by Flapper Girl for sometime. Too many pretties to choose from.

100 Ideas | Week Fifteen

I chose a pretty simple idea for this past week - make a map of everywhere you went in one day. Our friend Chris was staying with us for a few days from NSW and my best friend Sara was kind enough to drive the four of us around the countryside visiting some of the lovely sites that Northern Tasmania has to offer. We had delicious lunch and sweets at the raspberry farm, devoured cheese samples at the cheese farm, ate late afternoon burgers on the water in Devonport, observed some topiary and a hideous statue and watched C and Chris drink a paddle of beers each at the brewery and observed all the lovely scenery in between. This map shows all  the places we stopped over our 6 hour journey.

Next, I'd like to road trip to the Great Western Tiers to see falling snow and maybe go camping when it's warm again on the pretty East Coast. I feel like Tasmania is pretty much inexhaustible, despite it's tiny size (if you were wondering, it is about the size of Ireland or Switzerland or West Virginia). It has expansive beaches, snowy mountains, treacherous forests, huge lakes, rolling hills. I like it a lot.

Where would you like to road trip to?

Haus | Desk

I just thought I'd share some pictures of my current desk/making space. My camera was being a bit bothersome today, so apologies for the yellowness of everything. Ideally I'd love to have a fun, roomy studio area with lots of space to spread out, but C and I share the space (he sits behind me at his desk) so I can't be too messy. I have a view into my little backyard and can watch the tv in the lounge room lazily from my desk chair. My cats also like to use the sunny vantage point of my window sill to sit and laze.
My essential creative space ingredients are lots of desk space, compartments, colour and that everything is easily accessible.

I also thought I'd mention super quick that I did some (very) late night blog tweaking last night and changed the commenting system on my blog again, so all the previous comments on the last month's worth of posts don't show up anymore (but I can still see them in my account) - just in case you thought I deleted your lovely comment!
