Just A Minute...
...in September (reliably, a day late).

guh

Watching | The Killing (finished!), Breaking Bad (watching the finale tonight) & The Mindy Project.
Consuming | Banana coconut muffins & pumpkin cake with chocolate ganache & getting adventurous with making dinners (lots of spices).
Listening | Hesitation Marks - NIN
Making | A tiny zine, little doodles & fancy nail pattens.
Enjoying | All the little noises my baby makes & his new skills (grabbing things, rolling over, chatting). I can't get enough of that guy.
Amused | by The Bedroom Philosopher at Fresh Comedy Night.
Looking forward to | Spending time with my sister & her partner next week, visiting the Great Western Tiers, flying back to Newcastle and spending time with family.
Annoyed | by the tradespeople taking 2 weeks off working on my house, thanks to the wet weather, so we still can't get out the front door!
In October I'd Like To | Be creative & make each day count.

This past month was really lovely.

Weekly Thrift

I haven't been opshopping properly in a few weeks but today I popped into the Mission Shop in the city and found this sweet crocheted blanket and a little bundle of Summery clothes for Theo.

I also thought I'd share that I've been working on a crocheted Zpaghetti rug. I owe 101% of my progress to Isis' great teaching. I'm going to add another colour and extend it out to make it a proper floor rug. Atticus was admiring my handiwork. This is my first attempt at crochet and I'm starting to enjoy it (I felt like an idiot at the start). I did most of this in an about 4 hours (I'm slow).

This week I've been thinking a lot about the future. I have been trying to work out in my head the logistics of returning to university next year and realised that if I just take two subjects each semester next year and take a Summer school unit and a Winter school unit, I'll be able to graduate at the end of next year. I didn't want a full course load because I know that baby and university juggling will in itself be a challenge, so it was a relief. I hope that I can make it through - I'll try my hardest but the saying 'P's make degrees' is kind of sounding in my head. After I graduate I'm planning on doing a masters of teaching, which will take two years, but it still doesn't feel too far away in the distance. Beyond that hopefully lies a long, enjoyable career of primary school teaching (and C getting to live out his lifelong dream of being a stay at home dad).

I'm also playing with the idea of some travel in the months after I graduate. My sister and her boyfriend are wanting to spend two months in Europe in early 2015 and I'm working out the logistics of tagging along. My head is all abuzz with university major work ideas and travel ideas. Exciting!

A Little Picnic
P_20130923_131128

Can you tell I'm really enjoying my new camera? On Monday we had a little picnic with C's parents at a place called Punchbowl Reserve. We saw lots of ducks and soaked up the sunshine (in thirty-second spurts as the clouds kept most of the sunshine hidden). We popped Theo in his grandparents' picnic basket while we ate (a friend said that the above photo looked like Theo had just eaten the contents of the basket) - he seemed to like it there (and has become obsessed with sucking on that one finger).

I can't wait for warmer weather and to properly come out of hibernation!

+ Worn: dress - Dangerfield, sandals - Saltwater Sandals & sweater clips - Sweet & Lovely.
+ Ps. Theo's sweet hat is from a lovely blog reader named Maria. If you're reading - it's Theo's new favourite!

A Little Walk
DSC00177

Today Theo and I walked C to work. He works one suburb over in Newstead and it's a lovely walk, albeit very hilly. He walks to work just about every day (he doesn't have his full license and enjoys walking), even when it's raining and I really like accompanying him, especially now that the sun stays out later. Just about all of the houses in the suburb are mid-century built and very sweet and well kept - so many cute art deco features! It's suburbia, but it's probably the best kind of suburbia. It's the kind of place that you walk through and feel like the people who live there enjoy their lives. The view from the top of the hill is pretty damn lovely and makes it worth the hike back to our house. I wanted to try out my new camera (it's a Sony NEX-5RL - and I really like it), so here are some pictures from the walk.

I love Daschunds. This house usually has two sitting on the verandah watching passersby. This guy was very serious and inquisitive. Earlier this week I saw somebody carrying around a tiny, itty-bitty baby Daschund.

I'm not sure what it is about this apartment block, but oddly, I just love it. I think it's mostly that font - Highview Sixty-Two and the manicured lawn.

Have I ever mentioned how long my husband's hair is? It's all messy and unbrushed here but when I brush it out it's almost a metre long! Despite my occasional encouragement he'll NEVER cut it.

This is what the front of our house looks like at the moment. Our landlord decided to fix the front of the house which was falling down. It's been three weeks of work so far but it's starting to look like there's been some progress. We haven't been able to go in or out of the front door while the work has been going on which has been a bit of a pain - we've been going out through the back of the house and into alleyway with the pram (believe me, it's more difficult than negotiating the staircase at the front of the house!). The landlord felt badly that the work would be going on while we have a small baby and so halved our rent for the last few months and for the duration of the work, which was really lovely (especially considering we've never met them). This is what it looked like before we moved in. Cannot wait until it's finished (though I'll miss half rent!).
